Northampton has not benefited from Brown's first year as Prime Minister12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Fri 27th Jun 2008
Labour MPs unanimously made Mr Brown party leader on 27th June last year and are celebrating his first anniversary as Prime Minister. But Northampton has not benefited from Gordon Brown's leadership, claims Lib Dem Parliamentary Spokesman Andrew Simpson. Andrew Simpson said, "Gordon Brown has been in office for a year but has failed to live up to expectations. "Labour insisted Brown would be a good leader for our country. Instead, we have endured months of dithering, indecision and chaos under Prime Minister Brown. "The people of Northampton are bitterly disappointed. He seems more like a rabbit frozen in the headlights rather than a person giving leadership to the country. "The government has failed to safeguard our local green fields and open spaces from development, and thousands of Northampton residents on low incomes continue to be worse off under Gordon Brown's 10p tax grab, despite the panic concessions last month. "The credit crunch is causing misery and as I go around Northampton, more and more residents tell me they are angry with Gordon Brown as matters get worse rather than better."
